Haxby Playgroup require a support worker to work directly with a child at the setting. The Child’s primary area of need has been identified as language and communication. The purpose of the role will be to provide a high quality level of education and care to support the child to access the early years curriculum.
There will be an expectation that the post holder will work collaboratively with parents, setting SENCo, practitioners in the setting and other professionals to plan and provide an enriching environment that supports the child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs. The post holder will also be required to contribute to planning, reviewing and assessing the child’s progress and attainments and their participation will be expected at multi-disciplinary meetings. An understanding of the importance of parental partnerships and that families is essential as are the principles of safeguarding and welfare requirements.
Additional experiences of supporting children to communicate through alternative methods would be an advantage for this post; specifically in using visuals. The position is subject to the child accessing pre-school provision and is unlikely to be extending beyond this time. Please note that this is not a SENCo role but will require collaborative working alongside the SENCo.
