8 things you may not know about Walmgate Nursery:
We love the outdoors here at Walmgate, so that is why it is so important to plan as much as we can outdoors for the children to be able to explore and learn in the outdoor environment.
Our Children get to experience a broad range of places – The children love being spontaneous and deciding what to do and where to go based on their lovely imaginations, helping the staff to plan activities and outings to suit these and keep the children enthralled in what they are doing. Trips and outings to local tourist spots such as Museum Gardens, The Merchants and visits to The Railway Museum. Trips to Piglets adventure Farm, Flamingo Land, Creepy Crawlies are just some of the other tourist attractions the children love to visit. Parents are also invited to join us on these. We also love visits to our local pottery shop, Bish, Bash, Pot, here the children get to create some wonderful pottery, painting, canvas’s and bags. We have so much fun here. We offer a wide range of new, exciting, experiences for your child to engage in as well as inviting you along to share these wonderful experiences with them.
We bring extra fun to us too – We have weekly visits from Lingo tots and Science tots and termly visits from Zoo lab. The children get so much out of these sessions and really enjoy them.
Your children can burn off energy at our place – Our amazing indoor climbing frame and slide is great for the children to develop their Physical skills and burn off some energy.
We like to involve parents – We hold Regular stay and play sessions- These are planned termly and often have a theme- For example Christmas- We hold ‘Mince pie and mingle’ Parents are invited to join us and their children and engage in activities with them, discuss their child’s development with their child’s key person whilst enjoying a hot beverage and a mince pie or a biscuit.
Helping transition to School – We have a wonderful partnership with one of the local schools. We help and support each other through termly meetings. The children and staff are often invited along to join them on their fabulous Forest School adventures
Our Staff are brilliant – All our staff thrive on maintaining our good practice and complete training courses via Noodle Now as well as attending local face to face training courses and workshops. All staff are highly qualified or are working towards a Childcare qualification. They range from Level 2 to degrees in childhood studies.
Our Food is Yummy – All food is prepared on site and homemade, we have a voluntary cook two days a week and the rest of the week it is all prepared by the staff and children.
