bloomyork.com
GET READY TO EXPERIENCE ALL THINGS FLORAL DURING BLOOM!.
YORK’S FIRST HORTICULTURAL FESTIVAL WILL BE SPROUTING IN THE
CITY THIS SUMMER TO CELEBRATE THE 250 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF
THE ANCIENT SOCIETY OF YORK FLORISTS, THE WORLD’S OLDEST
HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY, FOUNDED IN 1768.

Whether you’re a green-fingered gardener, a flower enthusiast or a cactus-keeping novice, Bloom! is a colourful, city-wide celebration for everyone. Discover the secret green spaces hidden behind the walls of some of York’s historic buildings, make your way through some of the less visited gardens of the city and witness a floral master at work with Royal florist Simon Lycett.

Visit the bustling riverbanks of the Ouse to experience a Parisian style Art Market complete with floral ornamentation and botanical themed arts and crafts. Take part in a yoga class in the Museum Gardens, join a watercolour workshop at Gray’s Court Hotel, sample some treats from the Vegetarian Street Food Market or buy a beautiful bunch of flowers from the Shambles Flower Market!

Get into the festival spirit and pay a visit to one of York’s many Beer Gardens and see which one gets your vote in York Mix’s Bloom! beer garden competition! Whilst you’re there, why not sample a limited-edition Bloom! beer or have a botanical gin and tonic with a garnish of herbs fresh from the garden?

Or why not take a trip out of York’s city centre to visit the ever-elegant Middlethorpe Hall Hotel and Spa; attend a flower arranging class at Scampston Hall; or visit the open gardens for afternoon tea at beautiful locations such as Goldsborough Hall and Stillingfleet Nursery Gardens?

Based over four floral-themed days, Bloom! will bring a rainbow of colour and beauty to the ancient city of York and is sure to inspire you with workshops, magnificent installations and everything in between.
