York’s rich history is being celebrated in a free app which will take you on a tour of the city, encountering some of York’s most famous characters hidden around the historic streets.
Aimed at families, you’ll meet Anne Lister, Dick Turpin and Guy Fawkes among the cast of iconic York characters. Each one has an interactive augmented reality element, bring history to life in front of your eyes! There are seven characters to find in all.
The York BID are launching the ‘Travel Through Time’ quest on 15th January.
In addition to the ‘Travel Through Time’ quest, there are regularly changing seasonal quests throughout the year to keep the app fresh.
Once you have found a character, you can take a photo and share on social media. The York Quest app is free to use and is available on Google Play Store or App Store.
Carl Alsop, Operations Manager at the BID said, “We hope this app will appeal to both residents and visitors, giving an added element of fun to their visit into the city centre. You might choose to do the whole quest, or just discover a couple of characters as you visit other places in the city. It’s ideal for keeping younger members of the family entertained on a day out!”
