Did you know if you are a City of York resident you may be eligible for the Healthy Start Programme.
What is the Healthy Start Programme?
If you’re pregnant or have children under the age of 4 you can get free vouchers or payments every 4 weeks to spend on:
fresh, frozen or tinned fruit and vegetables
infant formula milk
fresh, dried, and tinned pulses
You can also get free Healthy Start vitamins, which you can collect, at participating pharmacies. An NHS list of pharmacies is available from the NHS website.
You must also get Child Tax Credit with a household income of £16,190 or less.
You’ll also be eligible for the Healthy Start scheme if you’re pregnant and under 18, even if you do not receive any benefits.
Healthy Start is changing
NHS are launching a digital scheme that offers a prepaid card to those applying for Healthy Start instead of paper vouchers. This card will be topped up every 4 weeks with your payment.
They aim to start rolling out the invitation process to current Healthy Start beneficiaries on the paper voucher scheme. You’ll be contacted to let you know when and how to apply online to the new Healthy Start scheme.
