At Brightwater Swim School we believe in providing a safe, fun and friendly environment for your children to learn to swim in. Our focus on small, four student classes, ensures our lessons are personal and allow for that all important one-to-one interactivity with the teacher. Classes are taught through in-water instruction, ensuring an ideal atmosphere for learning this highly rewarding and lifesaving skill. Our lessons are 30 minutes long and badges and certificates are included in the price. We take from 3.5 years +, all abilities are welcome.

Our teachers are all fully qualified level 2 or higher and DBS checked.

JAZZ HANDS Dance and Musical Theatre

JAZZ HANDS DANCE AND MUSICAL THEATRE is a fun, modern dance and musical theatre environment with a focus on performance. Our choreography focuses on a range of modern dance styles, all with a musical theatre twist. All ages and abilities are welcome and nurtured through weekly classes and annual showcase performances at local theatres. JAZZ HANDERS who join us will experience a range of different dance styles and genres, learning basic dance technique and discipline while having lots of fun through routine based learning.

JAZZ HANDS is founded by York choreographer Jessica Hardcastle who has choreographed large-scale musicals across the City including Hairspray! Grease and Oliver! JAZZ HANDS was launched with the aim of providing the York community dance and musical theatre classes that are accessible, inclusive and guaranteed to get the best out of all performers regardless of their age, ability or previous experience. Our class fees are affordable. Our doors are always open to those with a passion for musical theatre and modern dance.

Junior IMP’s

Junior IMPs logo

Junior IMPs (Inclusive Music Projects) is a weekly music group for children aged 5 – 10 who love to sing. Led by experienced musicians and workshop leaders, the fun sessions include physical and vocal warm ups, musical games and learning the lyrics and simple signs for songs. You don’t need any previous experience of singing or signing to take part and sessions are fully inclusive, welcoming disabled and non-disabled children. We support everyone to get involved and express themselves in the way that works best for them.

Singing and signing is a great way to build confidence and develop communication skills. It’s also a great way to make new friends!

The IMPs are a friendly bunch and we love welcoming new members so why not come along and give IMPs a try?

Paper Planes and Daisy Chains

Screen Shot 2016-10-04 at 12.18.37Paper Planes and Daisy Chains offers a rounded theatre making experience covering all aspects of putting on a performance, from acting and singing, to mask and puppet making.
Our youth theatre workshops are tailored to encourage young people to learn how to utilise their creativity whilst having fun, and making friends. We find that our participants learn how to open up and share with other children. We work together on reading, learning lines and co-ordination, whilst having fun.

We offer:
A creative environment for youngsters to express themselves.
Activities to develop and initiate their own creativity and ideas.
Opportunity to contribute to group tasks.
Opportunity to explore different mediums of performance and theatre making.

We have some exciting new classes start every Friday at the new buildings on Piccadilly in York called Spark:York, we will be there at 11am – 12pm running our Crafty Theatre workshops. We will let you know more information as it opens.
We also have a wonderful autumn tour coming up Miss Trout and Paper Planes and Daisy Chains have worked together to revive classic stories from the past with relevant social messages. Each story musically accompanied, with handmade sets and costume, a visual and oral treat. These fairy tales will tour locally to Yorkshire libraries, community centres, schools and festivals, as a beautiful collection of moralistic tales, to engage and ignite creativity and passion into children.
