Blue Dolphin – Haven Holidays

Distance from York: 42.2 miles

Blue Dolphin boasts panoramic sea views and spacious grassy touring areas, with 210 pitches including electric hook up.  They also have a range of modern, well-equipped caravans to suit every family and budget. On site there’s a big multi-lane water slide, a modern restaurant called The Brigghouse and two family ShowBars.

Some Mumblers have commented that this park is outdated and prefer some of the other Haven parks in Yorkshire.  It is also noted that this park does not have direct access to the beach.  However, there are also lots of recommendations for this caravan park in our chat group so here’s what some of the Mumblers who love this park have to say:

“Soft play and swimming through the day, plenty of parks and of course the amusements and activities in the clubs. She absolutely loves it. Definitely recommend.”

CK Apr 18

“We usually go to Blue Dolphin, slightly smaller park so easier for little legs (ours are 3 & 1).”

RM, Apr 18

“It’s a lovely site. Loads for the kids to do. I’ve been twice with similar age kids and they loved it.”

This is where Butlins all started back in 1936 but a lot has changed since then! You’ll find some lovely restaurants and a beautiful blue flag sandy beach right on your doorstep.

“We’ve been with our 2.5yr old and it’s great. I would always go for fair ground or gold as the others you don’t get towels or housekeeping (good when you’ve got little ones in nappies). We did the food dining option as it works our cheaper.”

HH, Jan 19

“We’ve been to tots week for last 2 years and it’s really good, all aimed for under 5’s. Shows included Justin, Teletubbies, Mr. Maker, Mr. Men to name a few…All the fairground rides are included too and the swimming is really good.”

AP Jan 19

“We preferred Butlins as entertainment is much better and there is always something for the kids to be doing. We upgraded to gold apartment as reviews for silver weren’t great. Also If you’re going peak time I would recommend getting fast track passes.”

What Mumblers say: This site is recommended frequently.  When comparing to other Haven sites some prefer the pool here for young ones and like the larger size of the site with plenty to do.  On the flip side some find this site too big and favour the smaller sites such as Reighton Sands and Thornwick Bay.

“Primrose is excellent for young children they have everything, we couldn’t fit everything in last time we went there was so much to do. Plus 10 min walk down beach to Filey and there’s a bus to Scarborough that picks up in the park itself.”

“We love it. Only small but the kids think it’s brilliant.”

HT, Aug 18

“Although Primrose is brilliant I found it to big and busy with my then 2 year old. Prefer Reighton as still plenty to do but smaller complex so on an evening he was so much easier to keep an eye on.”
