Derwent Danceworks was established in 2009 by IDTA qualified Principal Miss Kate Womersley. We hold classes in Thorganby, Wheldrake, Escrick, at Knavesmire Primary School (South Bank, York) and others too! We give generous family and multi-class discounts and always offer free trial lessons.

Our timetable includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Freestyle, Contemporary, Streetdance, Acro, Musical Theatre and more. Beginners are always welcome, and we have lots to challenge the most passionate and capable dancers. Always inclusive, we develop confidence in class and in performance, building friendships and skills as we go.

Our team of 3 qualified teachers are First Aid trained, DBS checked, experienced, and committed to the development of our students’ technique, confidence, and well-being. We follow the accredited IDTA syllabus, as well as the NATD Contemporary syllabus and Acrobatic Arts.

Hot Tap Dance School was established over 21 years ago in Escrick, just south of York. We are a fun, friendly and inclusive school that offers many opportunities for our Dancers, during term time and at our popular holiday workshops.

Classes offered include Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street Dance and Musical Theatre, and we have toddler dance classes for children as young as 2, and very popular adult Tap and Ballet classes (with no age limit!)

The school performs a Show every other year at the esteemed Chapman Theatre in Queen Margarets School in which all dancers are given the opportunity to perform, including the adults!

All our teachers are dedicated and professionally trained, and we offer regular examinations through the ISTD. We are very proud of our excellent exam success (100%) and we encourage our pupils to achieve through the QCA accredited exam structure, even to the level of earning UCAS points.

Mama’s Got Moves is a babywearing dance class-and no, you DO NOT need any dance skills, think Zumba but easier, and with the Latin vibes alternating with 90’s classics and 2000s tunes. All the music you made bad decisions to! And a load of non-judgemental friendly mums.
Drop-in/ Blocks available.
Baby carriers are available to borrow.
Older children are welcome to come and dance alongside you or play in the background.

The Patricia Veale School of Dance is one of the most established schools in York with an excellent reputation of producing highly trained dancers in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap and modern dance.

We offer professional ballet classes to everyone, from pre-school 2.5yrs, children, teens and adults, to progress and develop skills in technique, knowledge and artistry. Fun Salsa Caleña Classes in York. From the hot Salsa obsessed capital of the world- Cali, Colombia this style of salsa is full of footwork, fast and a lot of fun. A great way to get fit, learn more moves and meet some great people. You DO NOT need a partner to attend any of these classes. Each class will include both partner work and footwork. Pay on the door.

Yorkshire Rose Academy of Dance (YRAD) was founded by Principal Kerry Whitfield in 2013, and her passion for the arts gives the students at YRAD an encouraging platform to be their best. Kerry is a former professional dancer who trained and works with both The Royal Ballet School and The Royal Academy of Dance.

The school offers a vast array of classes for children to learn and develop in the performing arts industry. Classes are fun, inclusive, inspirational and gives students a strong work ethic and discipline. YRAD has an enthusiastic and supportive team of skilled professionals at their core, plus they invite external pros for Workshops / Masterclasses throughout the year. Children have the opportunity to audition for our affiliated Children’s Talent agency giving them a chance to be cast in Theatre, TV and Film.
