Vicky Cornwell and Catherine Whitehead, 2 sisters from York, noticed a lot of pictures popping up on Facebook of lockdown kitchen creations and an idea for a Martin House Lockdown Cookbook began.
They sent out an appeal for recipes and from this a collection of 28 family friendly recipes has been made into a digital cookbook. The book includes recipes such as Auntie Cath’s Luscious Lemon Drizzle Cake, Great Grandma Dorothy’s Polish cake and Kari’s Smoked Salmon and Asparagus Quiche as well as recipes from local businesses; The Star Inn at Harome, The Chopping Block and More Tone Fitness.
If you would like a copy of the book you can download a PDF copy of the book from http://shoptly.com/lockdown the website allows you to make a donation starting from as little as £3 and in return you will receive a PDF version of the book.
This book has been written to raise money for Martin House Hospice as COVID-19 has had a huge impact on Martin House with many of their usual fundraising activities cancelled. They stand to lose millions of pounds of fundraising over this period.
Martin House provides care for children and young people with life limiting conditions. They support families from across West, North and East Yorkshire, both at the hospice in Boston Spa and in the community.
Vicky and Catherine know only too well the vital care and support Martin House offer at the worst time in a family’s life. Vicky’s daughter Matilda was cared for by the amazing Martin House team at the end of her short life. The care, support and memories they helped create were invaluable.
