Where to pick pumpkin in York for Halloween in 2020.
It’s nearly half term, it’s nearly Halloween so what better activity than pumpkin picking? Here’s our pick (see what we did there?) of the best places around to pick a pumpkin and some ideas for a full day of pumpkin filled entertainment.

The Spilmans Festival is on a real authentic farm where you can pick your pumpkin from the field it was grown in with white ghost varieties plus lots of squashes and gourds as well as the traditional pumpkins – plus there are loads of other fun things to do to make this a very Autumnal, Halloween experience! Take a walk into the pumpkin patch to find the size and shape you like the best, or if you don’t have the time, there will be plenty to choose from in farmshop. This year it is a matter of booking you “Picking Slots”. Days will be released slowly to control the number of pickers on site at anyone time and to ensure there are enough pumpkins and social distancing can be maintained.
A York Mumbler said: “We’ve been today, it’s lovely. I thought it was really reasonable for pumpkins. I got 2 small to medium ones £3.74 for both. Family members got large ones for £4.99 each. Play park is lovely too.”
With A FREE pumpkin for every full paying child, Piglets have stacks of spooooooky fun this October! Pumpkin Patch & Carving, Mysterious Maze, Autumn Outdoor Adventure, Curly Tails & Little Snouts plus visit the beach. Please note, the Indoor Bale Play Baaarn will not yet be re-opening.
Around an hour’s drive from York, Cannon Hall Farm has Autumn Fun on the Farm. Tickets are from £6.95 per person and must be pre-booked on line. Free Pumpkin for Kids. You can also visit the animals including goats, an alpaca, horses and calves. There is a great outdoor playground and fancy dress is welcome – with spot prizes issued for those who have and a special effort (please bring a change of clothing for the playgrounds)
