York Central is launching the Festival of York Central, which offers a unique opportunity for residents to help shape this part of the city for future generations.
What is York Central?
This is one of the largest city centre brownfield regeneration sites in England and is a project of huge ambition, which offers the potential to create a series of new residential communities and business neighbourhoods in the heart of one of the UK’s most historic cities.
What is the Festival of York Central?
• An exhibition exploring the emerging masterplan for this landmark development is at the centre of the festival
• The exhibition will be open to the public from the 21st March to 27th April 2018 in The Gallery at the National Railway Museum
• The exciting festival programme also includes walking tours, workshops and speaking events, organised by My York Central
The people of York are being encouraged to join the conversation around this significant development and share their ideas on what makes a good place to live, work and relax. The input from people over the six weeks will help inform future planning submissions and shape longer-term thinking around the site.
Tamsin Hart-Jones, project lead from York Central Partnership, said: “We want the people of York to get involved in the festival and share their ideas for transforming this underused land into a vibrant and distinctive place to live and work. Their input will also help to help build a vision for the site which will evolve over the next 15 – 20 years and influence generations to come.”
