We provide free legally based confidential and impartial information, advice and support (IAS) about matters relating to special educational needs and disabilities.
Advice can be provided to children and young people aged 0-25 years with SEND and also to their parents/carers to provide opportunities through carrying out individual casework where required, so that they have impartial information about their legal rights that empowers them to express their views and helps them to understand and apply their rights in matters including exclusions, complaints, SEN processes and SEND Appeals; and make informed choices about their education, health and care outcomes.
SENDIASS is a statutory service, provided in house with the City of York Council and operates at arms-length from the local authority.
