York Theatre Royal has been producing great drama in the beautiful city of York for over 250 years and is one of the country’s leading producing theatres. Each year, the theatre entertains over 200,000 people with its wide variety of performances, events and activities including the much-loved annual pantomime.
With regular shows for children, as well as great value weekly classes for kids (including Crafty Tales run by Story Craft Theatre), one-off family events and an accessible and kid-friendly café, there’s lots to offer families at the theatre.
Starting from as young as 5 years old, right up to 19, York Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre programme offers children and young people the opportunity to get great drama training from professional theatre practitioners and artists every week. The sessions take place at the theatre and in partner venues across the city – providing a friendly and welcoming environment for young people to try something new, perform on our stages and get creative!
