TOY EXCHANGE UPDATE!
Before Christmas we launched the York Mumbler Toy Exchange and parents have been swapping their working toys with each other for the last few months.
We have just put a new toy exchange in a cafe in Woodthorpe – Cox & Co. It’s in the row of shops on Moorcroft Road, YO24 2RQ.
You can take along your child’s old toys as long as they are fully working & clean, so that another child can enjoy them. At any point you are also welcome to go along and help yourself to one of the toys in the bucket. The idea is that less toys go into landfill and your child has a regular supply of ‘new’ toys to keep them happy. Happy, occupied mini mumbler = happy parent!
Where can you exchange your toys:
- Love to Eat on 54 Moor Lane, YO24 2QY
- Youth Hostel Cafe on Water End, YO30 6LP
- Cox & Co, Moorcroft Road, YO24 2RQ
If you’d like a toy bucket in a place near you, just CONTACT ME with a suggestion of where and I can supply one!
Original Article from November 2017:
Good news for those who would like to have a toy clear out before Christmas – We’ve has launched a new initiative where parents can swap their children’s old toys for new ones, for FREE!
The Mumbler Toy Exchange was set up in response to two common questions that parents have at this time of year:
- What presents and stocking fillers can you get your kids for Christmas when you’re on a budget?
- What do you do with all the perfectly working but never played with toys that your children have grown out of?
The answer… the Mumbler Toy Exchange!
How do I get free toys…
We’ve placed a purple toy bucket at Love to Eat on 54 Moor Lane, YO24 2QY and another at the Youth Hostel Cafe on Water End, YO30 6LP. We’re also looking for other family friendly venues so CONTACT US if you are a cafe owner and would like a toy bucket in your premises.
You are welcome to go along to either of these venues and help yourself to a toy from the bucket for your child as long as you put one back at some point in the next few of weeks. The concept is simple.. recycling at it’s best!
I know some of my kid’s favourite toys are the ones they’ve had handed down from their cousins so the Toy Exchange is just an extension of the hand-me-down idea.
Please do use it, replenish when you can and I hope your children enjoy playing with their pre-loved toys as much as the last children did!
