Acomb is 3 miles from York City Centre with excellent bus routes into the centre. Located close to the ring road/A1237 and the A59, making the A64, Leeds and Harrogate easily commutable.

Mumbler Kelly’s Favourites
- We like a walk/ bike ride down Beckfield Lane to the blossom trees not too far down from the Coop towards Acomb, there’s an ideal walk through where you can practise bike rides!
- Also walking to Knapton to see the horses which can be tied in with the new playground in Knapton!
- Acomb Green is a large green space with a play area close to the main shopping area.
- Close by is Hob Moor Nature Reserve, part of the Knavesmire where you can enjoy spotting plenty of wildlife and even see great views of the Minster!
- Chapman’s Pond in Woodthorpe is close by and an excellent place to go and feed the ducks.

Shops:
In the heart of Acomb is a high street with some brilliant shops and amenities that make Acomb such a popular place to live. There are lots of good charity shops, a beer shop, card shop, butchers, greengrocers, florist and pharmacy to name but a few. The main supermarket in the centre is Morrisons and a Lidl is located on Thanet Road. You really can get everything you need in Acomb!

- Clifton Moor and Monks Cross are only a short drive away!
Eating Out & Entertainment:
You’ll be spoilt for choice with so many places to eat around the area, many of which get high praise from the Mumbler community. Tea on the Green is great for breakfast or lunch and serves Tapas in the evenings on a weekend. The nearby Fox in Holgate also comes highly recommended as it often has family days and events, plus a pizza van on Thursdays and Fridays. For takeaway, there were plenty of recommendations for the Indian Ocean and the Silk Cottage or the Magic Rainbow for a Chinese takeaway..

What is the best thing about living in Acomb?
“I love how close it is to local amenities and the lovely parks and play areas on offer. We have so many friends in the same area so we spend lots of time out and about exploring the area.”
What are your favourite things to do as a family in Acomb?
“Me and the kids love the Laughing Llama cafe, it’s a great place for a cuppa whilst the kiddies play. West Bank Park is perfect for a trip out, there’s the playground, picnic area, grassy area with football goals and woods to explore. Practising riding bikes on the little cut through by the blossom trees on Beckfield Lane!”
What places would you recommend someone moving to the area should visit?
“West Bank Park! Close by we also like The Poppleton Centre for a play in the park and a refuel with a coffee and cake. Agility Ninja type play centre is only a short drive too, great for burning energy!”
