These popular groups offer a calm supportive space for mums/dads and infants from birth to two years old. There is time and peace in my groups to nourish a pleasurable and reciprocal relationship with your new child, observe and enjoy their self-initiated and natural motor development, gain confidence and trust in your abilities as a parent, and make new friends. There are only 7/8 parents in a group and we meet once a week for 1 ½ hours. Parents usually stay with the group for a year to 18 months and make deep friendships that last way beyond the group life. The groups run on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings 10.30-12 and Thursday afternoons 1.30-3pm.
I am a free lance early childhood trainer living in York. I have 20 years training and experience in running groups and workshops for parents and have been running these very successful groups for 8 years in a beautiful room at York Steiner School. Sing and play through our structured awards programme and see your baby progress to a confident little swimmer. From 6 weeks old to 12 years old.
Babies can start at Baby Swimmers as soon as you and baby are ready and happy to do so and through fun and games we progressively develop your babies natural reflexes to encourage voluntary swimming movements in the water which will build a foundation for your baby to swim unaided.
Baby Swimmers benefits both parents and babies as whilst you are interacting and bonding in the water together, you are also benefiting from learning water safety and increased water confidence. It is also physically and mentally beneficial for your baby and enjoyable for you both.
Research has shown that early swimming can benefit your baby by helping to develop water confidence, strength, co-ordination & alertness, whilst also learning water safety and having fun.
We follow the Starfish Awards through the STA and once children are aged over 2 they progress on to the Stanley Awards. Once your child reaches 5, they progress onto Swimmers Academy, where we develop swimming techniques and build stamina, classes here are for beginners as well as children that have been through the Baby Swimmers courses.

Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) – Music classes for children from birth using the internationally renowned Suzuki Method
Everyone experiencing these sessions comments on the sense of calm, the children’s focus and the incredible range of skills they develop, both musical and personal.
Music at Heart is fast gaining a reputation for providing something that is refreshingly different from typical baby and toddler music groups offered in the locality – immeasurably more than just music lessons.
“I was a bit apprehensive that my newborn might be too little to get much out of the class, but it has been brilliant. I have loved seeing how much she has enjoyed it and how interested she is in the instruments and the other children.”
“All three of my children have developed hugely, not only in terms of their music, but as people too.”
The Suzuki approach introduces children to music the way they are introduced to language – from birth. With both, for the best outcome, this early start is crucial. We talk to a baby because s/he is beautiful and because we feel affection, whether or not the baby understands. To underline this, Music at Heart offers free classes to newborns for the term in which they join.

Help your baby communicate before speech with our award winning music programme!
Babies typically use all kinds of gestures as a natural part of learning to talk. Encouraging them with extra signs such as ‘milk’, ‘more’, ‘ change nappy’ or ‘tired’ helps babies communicate more effectively and allows parents to understand their needs, thoughts and ideas.
Sing and Sign classes combine action songs, props, pictures and toys in musical activities designed to stimulate speech and language development. It’s natural, it’s easy and it’s also great fun! Our small classes and weekly themes give you the skills and confidence to sign with your baby, as well as providing some lovely together time, and songs and rhymes that you will still be singing in years to come!

I treat every child as an individual and they progress happily at their own pace , with this in mind, all swimmers receive an STA certificate and woven badge each term, which are included in your fee.
Classes are fun based and relaxed with only 7 children in each class and the whole pool to ourselves, with only one lesson running at a time, which offers little distraction from other swimmers and lots of space.
