There are two great free Big Draw events for families in York during October half-term, so pick up your pencils and get back to the drawing board.
Drop in to York Army Museum’s Big Draw to Remember – there’ll be a huge canvas for people to doodle and draw inspired by the museum collections with help from local artist Stephen Lee Hodgkins. The drawings will be turned into a piece of community artwork to be displayed in the museum; so come along and make your mark. If you are not able to come along, but would like to take part Stephen has created a quick clip showing you how to doodle a poppy. Draw one at home, take a snap and share it with the museum on social media @YorkArmyMuseum. You can view the clip here: https://bit.ly/PoppyDoodle
Explore All Saints Church North Street, take a look at its unique stained glass windows and join artist Alun Kirby to create art or stories inspired by the actual theft of glass from the windows in the 1800s. Alun will be creating a temporary stained glass window out of paper to be hung in the church, come along and add your artwork to it.
There will also be the option for participating children to complete the national Arts Award Discover and receive a certificate for their work. This is an optional extra and completely free of charge. Details will be available at each event.
