Celebrating the very best of the countryside, this two-day event is mostly undercover so you’ll have fun whatever the weather. Once you have your ticket to the event all activities are FREE.
Julia Bradbury will front this year’s Countryside Live for the first time. Best known for presenting Countryfile on the BBC and Britain’s Best Walks and Australia with Julia Bradbury on ITV, Julia is renowned for being genuinely passionate about the countryside and outdoor pursuits.
Julian and Peter who star in Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet, will also appear on the Main Stage as well as signing and selling their new books in the Tipsy Heifer Pub. Peter will appear on Saturday 19 October with his newly released book “My Yorkshire Great and Small”, a heart-warming love letter to the places, people and animals of Yorkshire. Julian will be a special guest on Sunday 20 October with his books including the latest: “On Call with a Yorkshire Vet” a diary-style book, full of short stories and anecdotes.
Once inside everything is FREE, face painters will be on hand to turn your little ones into their favourite character. There are plenty of hands on activities from kneading dough to having a go at making the perfect sausage, there will be lots of opportunities for the younger ones to get hands on and learn where their food comes from and how it’s made. Get up close and meet a variety of animals including farm animals, newly hatched chicks, alpacas plus some more exotic creatures and bugs.
New activities for 2019, children can test their skills on the ninja assault course or whizz around on tractors on the indoor track. They can even take part in a virtual race on the new bike simulators!

As well as family activities, there are 2,000 animals who converge on the showground over the two days to compete. From horses to honey, pigs to poultry, sheep to cattle, pigeons to rabbits there are competitions and classes throughout the weekend. Elsewhere there’s birds of prey displays, hundreds of stands to browse, horticultural classes and farriery competitions.
Back by popular demand, Nick and Will from Stray FM will provide entertainment at the pub including quizzes three times a day with over £500 worth of prizes to win including Fodder Afternoon Tea vouchers and Great Yorkshire Show family tickets.
Please note dogs are not allowed on the showground.
