What happens at the Open House event?
Anyone interested in cloth nappies is welcome at the events. Most people come because they would like to borrow some to try out at home, but you’re also welcome just to find out more, to chat to other cloth-nappying parents or to get tips on using cloth nappies you already own. Mums, dads, grandparents, carers, bumps, babies and children are all welcome.
Feel free to drop in any time during the published event time (10-11.30). Allow about 45 minutes to an hour to get all the information you need and arrange a hire.
Address and directions:
The Open House is at 60 South Bank Avenue, York, YO23 1DP
By road: If you are coming from town along Bishopthorpe Road, turn right onto South Bank Avenue at the junction with Knaresborough Kitchens on the right and a corner shop on the left.
500 yards up the road you will come to a fork in the road, number 60 South Bank Avenue is in the middle of the fork and looks like the point of a triangle facing you. On-street parking is free and unrestricted, but please avoid parking right outside the semi-detached houses opposite.
Bikes can be left in the yard.
By bus: The 11, 21 and 26 all stop on Balmoral Terrace. Walk away from Bishopthorpe Road to Trafalgar Street. Turn right onto Trafalgar Street and continue to the top where it meets South Bank Avenue. Number 60 is on the left of the junction.

Nappy Hire:
We have a wide range of nappies and accessories for hire. We need a deposit of £5 per nappy, £3 per accessory (bucket, wetbag etc.), or £10 for a Cheeky Wipes all-in-one kit (like this: http://www.cheekywipes.com/whats-in-the-kit.html). The deposit will be refunded in full when you return the nappies in a reloanable condition, unless you wish to leave a donation (see below). Deposits can be paid by cheque to ‘NCT’ (we won’t pay in the cheque unless you fail to return what you borrow) or by cash. The normal loan period is one month. If you’d like to borrow for longer (for example, if you’re borrowing while pregnant and baby arrives later than expected) then we can usually arrange this.

You’re welcome to bring along any nappies of your own to ask about.
We often have old stock for sale at very good prices. This is all listed on the Facebook group York Cloth Nappies B/S/T. Some may also be available at the Open House.
The Nappy Librarians are also admins on the Facebook group and are happy to offer information about buying and selling secondhand nappies online.
