Hello, I’m Laura from Brushstrokes and Blooms, I specialise in creating and teaching bespoke floral watercolour paintings through introductory sessions to watercolour painting in small, intimate group workshops.
No prior painting experience is needed! For most people this may have been the first time they have attempted art since school, but I’m always amazed at the results and I’m sure you will be too!
With a key eye for design, I will guide you in colour choices and teach you the tricks of good design, so that you produce watercolours that you are proud of. Workshops are scheduled throughout the year so I can tailor our artwork to the seasons, and it’s a wonderful way to reset and prioritise time for yourself at the start of the year.
I host workshops at my home in York, with homemade cake, a glass of fizz and plenty of fresh seasonal flowers helping to create a lovely chilled break from the chaos of the outside world!
Spring watercolour sessions:
These two-hour workshops will give you an introduction to watercolour, producing a beautiful spring blossom painting. This will be a small intimate group of up to 8 people, so there will be plenty of time for me to support you with your techniques and also have a natter. Come along, and learn about:
– Colour blending using ‘wet on wet’ technique
– Adding detail using ‘wet on dry’ technique
– Brushstrokes and use of pressure to create different effects
– Take home a painting to frame or give as a gift
