Baby Swimmers and Swimmers Academy
“We began lessons when Adam was just 3 months old. I was worried at first that he might cry throughout the lesson, particularly when going underwater, but I needn’t have worried – he loved it! He is constantly smiling as we sing songs and sway through the water. We are now on our 3rd term with Baby Swimmers and are still enjoying it. I have returned to work and swimming is the only class we have continued with. Adam has progressed brilliantly and I find myself beaming with pride after every lesson. He can now hold onto the side by himself and is even attempting to climb out which is pretty amazing to say he is only 11 months old and can’t even walk yet! Massive thanks to Baby Swimmers.”

Baby Swimmers & Swimmers Academy offer swimming classes for babies from 6 weeks to teens in Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, York, Pocklington and Stamford Bridge. A chance for you and your little one to spend quality bonding time together as well as learn water safety skills or for the older ones to learn or improve their swimming technique.
At Energise Leisure Centre we have developed a new swim school programme. It is designed to enable your child to progress from a non-swimmer to advance within the same day and time slot. No more changing class time or day as they progress; one simple solution to learning a life skill. We offer a variety of lessons for babies, children and adults across the city in our 3 centres. Learning to swim is a life skill. Our priority is to ensure your child learns to be safe in and around water, developing their skills and strokes to become confident in achieving their milestones. Our new programme focuses on a simplified set of Awards linked to the natural and progressive milestones for every child to become the best swimmer possible.
As your safety is of upmost importance to us, we have made a number of changes in line with Government and National Governing Body guidance, along with enhanced hygiene measures, to ensure your visits are as safe as possible.

Teaching children to swim confidently with excellent stroke techniques for nearly 40 years!
Coral started the swim school in the 1980s and for many years developed it based on the principles of teaching children to enjoy swimming and gain confidence in the water.
We continue to focus on getting the strokes correct, creating a fun & challenging environment and developing children’s water confidence as they progress from absolute beginners through to completing their Gold Award; with distance, water skills & personal survival certificates achieved throughout their journey!
We currently teach children from 4 years old & move individuals up when they are ready. We don’t make them wait to the end of term or until a whole class is ready to progress. Our Advanced Aquaphobia Coaches can provide extra support if fear or anxiety is present or affecting development.
Our 25 minute lessons, with a high teacher to pupil ratio, are delivered at: ●New Earswick (3.45-5.45) ○Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. ●Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy, Strensall (4-6) ○Thursday (beginners only). Our aim is to achieve consistent progress (at each child’s own speed rather than at the speed of the swim school) resulting in confident, capable and safe swimmers. Owner/Manager: Louise Jakobsen
We want every child to love swimming, respect the water and swim beautifully. That’s why our standards are the highest and our approach is unique.
At Puddle Ducks, our highly trained and qualified teachers are experts at identifying children’s levels of ability and adapting activities to the individual, nurturing confidence and encouraging natural ability.
Your child is truly at the centre of what we do – our teachers are especially trained to identify your little one’s own stage of development and confidence. They will then tailor the activities to suit your child, ensuring that they are happy, developing at their own pace and gaining confidence.
We never stand still – our programmes and teacher training are continuously developed in the latest techniques, ensuring our teaching standards remain the highest.
We believe in giving your child choice – if your little one isn’t ready to do an activity, we listen to them and adapt what they are doing to something they are comfortable with. We want to build their confidence, not break it.
Providing true value – we know you see Puddle Ducks as an investment in your child’s future. Our lessons are worth every penny and we are continually told so by our customers.

Swimming with Linzi is all about having fun in a safe environment, gaining water confidence to developing great stroke technique. I am a small independent STA local swim school set up with the love of teaching children to swim whilst having fun.
I offer baby, toddler and pre-school lessons from 1 month old to 4 years from nurturing baby classes to stroke development at Carr Junior School in Acomb, York : Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 9.30-12.00 pm
I also run classes after school times for complete beginners to Improvers, gaining water confidence to improved stroke technique at Robert Wilkinson School, Strensall, York : Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday 3.30-6.30 pm
I get to know all the children individually and adapt my teaching accordingly to suit every child. Your child will happily progress at their own pace, with this in mind, all swimmers receive an STA certificate at whatever level they are at and woven badge each term, which are included in your fee.
Classes are fun based and relaxed with only 6 children in each class, only 1 lesson running at a time and the whole pool to ourselves, so we have lots of space. In this environment I find my swimmers really enjoy their lessons and thrive learning to swim following the progressive STA guidelines.
With over 14 years of swimming teaching experience, including my own 3 children, I am fully qualified STA Swimming Instructor, STA baby and pre-school teacher, Level 3 STA Diploma in Aquatic Teaching for Baby and Pre-school, STA lifeguard trained, DBS checked and STA COVID-19 Safety Officer.

Team Jorvik Swimming Club run swimming lessons through their Swim School, Jorvik Swim Academy. All lessons are taken by fully qualified swimming teachers, supported by in-water assistants, many of whom are themselves current or past swimmers at the Club. It’s fair to say we are all passionate about swimming and its benefits!
We follow the Swim England Learn-to-Swim programme and have a high staff to child ratio in the early stages so that even nervous beginners feel fully supported. Most importantly, the kids have fun whilst learning to swim.
We have the expertise and knowledge to educate your children but we want to go a step further so they can learn to love the water and be confident and comfortable in this environment.
Team Jorvik is about promoting the value ‘swim for life’ because swimming is so much more than a sport. Many of our learners progress through to our Swimming Club, where they can swim either for fun and fitness or for competition, as they prefer.
Lessons are held on Sundays at Archbishop Holgate’s School. Club sessions are held throughout the week at Archbishops and other pools across York.
Our leading swim programme has been developed to build water confidence and skills throughout your little one’s first six years. We work closely with Swim England, the national governing body for swimming, and we’ve woven their learn to swim framework through our programme. You’ll love nothing more than seeing their progression as your little one moves from fun floating, kicking and splashing to swimming independently.
And not only will your little one develop key aquatic skills, but we’ll also give them the knowledge to keep themselves safe. By the end of their journey, your child will be able to independently swim to the side and climb out to safety, wherever they are. You can be safe in the knowledge that you’re learning from the best. Our teachers are the only ones who can hold Swim England’s Level 3 qualification, the highest that can be achieved. And they’re the most passionate around, there to guide you at every stroke of your little one’s journey. Because the more confident they are in the water, the more confident they’ll be out of it too.
So what are you waiting for? When they’re ready, we’re ready.
