Cafe 74 – The Lawrance

Café 74 is all about providing a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy our sumptuous range of made to order food and drinks. Our light meals and decadent, award-winning cakes are accompanied by a range of artisan coffees and speciality teas. Our signature home-made soups and savoury pastries are constantly changing to tempt you back inside each time you visit York.

As part of The Lawrance, Cafe 74 is open to both guests and the public, so in addition to our café and take away offering for passing customers, we also cater for apartment guests by delivering our excellent menu to our 14 serviced apartments.

Café 74 is open daily from 8.30 so you can grab a quick coffee or stay for an all-day breakfast, light lunch or afternoon tea.

Our cafe is a vibrant place used by locals, visitors to York and residents of The Lawrance as a great place rest and refuel at any point in the day. With so much on our doorstep it’s the perfect spot to take time out. So call in for a friendly welcome, fabulous food, warming soup, rich coffees and luxurious cakes to enhance your day.

Crumbs Cupcakery

Come and visit our Cupcakery where we hold cupcake decorating tea parties, make birthday cakes to order, and serve afternoon tea (booking required).

We are super child friendly and offer mini hot chocolates, pink milk and mini cupcakes for the little people! We also have a changing table, high chairs and are breast-feeding friendly too.

We’re open 10am-5pm from Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sundays.
Afternoon tea is just £12.50 per person

Crumbs cupcakery did our christening cake plus vegan & gluten free cupcakes. They were brilliant.

Cakes D’licious

Cakes d’Licious is a Vintage Tearoom and Cakery in York. We proudly serve our Vintage Afternoon Tea which includes freshly prepared sandwiches, crisps, salad, mouth watering scones, strawberry jam, fresh cream and a selection of cakes.

Cakes D’licious at Clifton Green. Amazing afternoon tea and they are fab with children. They have a small selection of toys and books to keep them entertained. My friend and I went with our 4 year old girls just before they started full time school. Their lunch was every bit as fab as ours.

Countess of York at The National Railway Museum

The National Railway Museum does afternoon tea (with fizz if you want) inside an old rail-way carriage. It’s brilliant. Really quaint and charming with classic music playing.

Dean’s Garden Centre – The Bothy

The Farm shop – Wigginton

Come and play in our under cover Under 5’s soft play area. Our outdoor area includes an undercover bouncy castle, climbing fort and of course we have a tractor!

Thanks to everyone for there recommendations for where to eat with a good kids play area.
We went to the farm shop on wiggington road in the end. It was lovely, the staff were really friendly and was fairly quiet. My little one loved playing in and outside. I would definitely recommend this place.
The weathers been kind this afternoon to so she’s had a good run about in and out.

The Teddy Bear Tea Rooms

Charming, atmospheric and unique, our tearoom is set in a beautiful medieval building filled with history.

Just been for an amazing Teddy Bears picnic at the Teddy Bear tea rooms on Stonegate with my mummy friends and our kids. They couldn’t have been any more accommodating when I booked and our little group had free run of their upstairs room (seats 14).

York Cocoa House

At York Cocoa House we love everything chocolate – eating, making, cooking and most importantly sharing. Afternoon chocolate isn’t like a standard afternoon tea; we put chocolate in everything, including the savoury items!  Suitable for Mini Mumblers, York Cocoa House advise that for small children sharing an afternoon chocolate for one person between two would suffice. Booking advisable.

The york cocoa house (afternoon tea) is great. Everything contains chocolate, even the savoury items, but just a subtle hint.
