We understand that seeking therapy can be daunting and that taking the first step can be challenging. At The Retreat Clinics we have over 200 years’ experience in supporting children, young people and adults with their mental health and neurodiversity. Our team of trained experts will work together with you and your family to design a bespoke and flexible treatment that is tailored to work best for the mental health needs of your child or young person.
We provide a range of therapy for children and young people aged 5 to 17 at our welcoming centre in Strensall, York, which has been purposely created to make therapy a safe, fun, and engaging experience for all children and our facilities include a kitchen, chill-out rooms, a sensory integration room and more.
We also provide therapy for both children and adults at our clinics in York, Manchester and also online, so you can access therapy from the comfort of your own home if you need.
We offer home-based assessment and therapy to children and young people with speech, language and communication needs. We work closely with families and liaise with school staff and other professionals to ensure that everyone around the child is confident in supporting their communication development.
We offer Speech and Language Therapy to parents, schools and general practitioners from our base in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire. We provide speech and language assessment and therapy in our clinic, at your own home or in your child’s school or nursery, across North Yorkshire. Good communication skills are vital for children to achieve their full potential. If your child is having difficulties with speaking, understanding or communicating clearly, speech and language therapy may help.
Helping children communicate is hugely rewarding for me, and I am passionate about enabling children to achieve their potential. I have 29 years experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs. My approach is friendly, straightforward, and realistic, aiming to build mutual trust with the children and families.
I have been a qualified Speech and Language Therapist for over 10 years now. Since qualifying I have worked with children with a range of speech, language and communication needs. As well as working as an independent therapist, I also work for the NHS, therefore I cannot provide services to children who would access NHS SLT through Leeds Community Healthcare.
In my 25 years as a Speech & Language Therapist, I have worked extensively in the NHS and in Education, in mainstream and special schools and nurseries, with children and young people (age 2 – 19) facing the challenge of disordered speech development and language impairment. I specialise in working with children with complex needs such as learning difficulties/ disability, autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, head injury. My expertise includes use of signing and communication aids, as well as the management of feeding difficulties.
We are a leading independent Speech and Language Therapy practice based in Boston Spa near Wetherby, Leeds. We deliver a range of Speech and Language Therapy services for toddlers through to young adults across Yorkshire.
