Visit York’s only indoor axe throwing venue for an unforgettable axe-perience!

Our highly trained coaches will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you hit the mark and laugh your socks off the whole way through. They pride themselves on making sure that you feel safe and comfortable while you’re with us.

After a few rounds of practice, your coach will lead your group into a friendly competition where you can show off what you’ve learned and test each other’s mettle in a few low-stakes, winner-takes-nowt rounds of chopper-chucking.

While family fun abounds, the minimum participant age is 13, so if you’ve got restless teens in need of releasing some pent-up exam stress, look no further! And if you’ve got some younger ones too, bring them along to cheer and jeer their siblings or try our miniature axe throwing game.

MUMentum is a social group for mums in and around York. We run a multitude of events monthly that are designed just for mums and others designed for mums and their children.

Mum only events:

We hold one big mum only event every month! So far, we have done a range of events including dinner, drinks, and escape rooms. We also aim to do one health or fitness related event a month such as martial arts and ariel hoop. We also have one online event (usually over zoom) a month and a book club that runs over a 6-week period. This give  you plenty of time to read the current book chosen by the group! We then meet for a discussion over coffee and snacks before planning the next book. If you would like to join any of these events find us on our social channels linked below.

Child friendly events:

Our child friendly events alternate between Wednesdays and Sundays so please check out our social channels to see what we are doing, where, and when! The child friendly events have varied in range and have included play parks, museums, and café visits.

Feel uplifted and connected through singing together… and enjoying tea and cake!

We are a group focussed on women’s wellbeing. This is a rare group for women at all ages and stages who want the healing power of music and community in their life.

Why do we sing? Because it feels good! And there’s science behind it…studies have found that group singing lessens anxiety, eases postpartum depression and reduces stress hormones. Music making exercises the brain and body. It improves breathing, posture and muscle tension.

Children are very welcome and are able to witness their mum joyfully singing and soak up the magic, and sometimes join in too. We start with a simple warm up and then sing uplifting songs from all over the world! We create beautiful sounds and layer up our voices in harmony. You do not need any singing experience to join us! Parts are taught by ear and there is no pressure to join in, feel free to listen and be soothed by our voices.

‘I can’t sing’ voices welcome! We sing for connection, not perfection.

When:
Mondays (termtime): 9.30 – 11am, at Heworth Without Community Centre, Y031 0HQ.
